Saint Ambrose University is a private Catholic university in Davenport, Iowa. It was founded in 1882 as a seminary and college for the education of priests. In 1926 it became a four-year college for men. In 1978 it began admitting women. It is now co-educational.

The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It offers bachelor's degrees in more than 40 majors and programs, as well as master's degrees in business, education, nursing, and theology.

Saint Ambrose University was founded in 1882 by Most Reverend John McMullen, DD, the first Bishop of Davenport. It was originally established as a seminary and college for the education of priests.
