Founded in 1877, the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is a fine arts and design college located in Providence, Rhode Island. RISD offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of areas, including painting, sculpture, architecture, printmaking, and industrial design.
RISD has a long history of producing some of the world's most talented and renowned artists and designers. Notable alumni include painters John Singer Sargent and Georgia O'Keeffe, fashion designer Ann Demeulemeester, and architect Frank Gehry.
The school's campus covers nearly 30 acres and includes several historic buildings. RISD's museum is also one of the oldest and largest art museums in the country.
