Founded in 1899, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) is the oldest medical school in Philadelphia and one of the first in the nation. It is a private, non-profit institution with a mission to educate osteopathic physicians and other health care professionals who will meet the primary care and health care needs of the region. The college is accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and offers Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and several graduate degrees. The DO program is a four-year, full-time program that includes two years of didactic instruction and two years of clinical rotations. The college also offers Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and Doctor of Psychology programs. The PCOM Library & Learning Center is a state-of-the-art facility that provides students with access to a wide range of resources, including a medical school-specific collection, online databases, and more.
