New York Medical College (NYMC) is a private biomedical research university based in Valhalla, New York. Founded in 1860, it is one of the oldest medical schools in the United States and is affiliated with several hospitals in the New York metropolitan area. NYMC offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in basic research, and a number of joint degree programs. It also offers residency and fellowship programs.
NYMC's main campus is located on a 55-acre (22 ha) campus in Valhalla, about 30 miles (48 km) north of New York City. The college also has a smaller campus in the Bronx, as well as a number of off-campus locations throughout the New York metropolitan area. NYMC is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
NYMC's academic programs focus on the biomedical sciences and healthcare. The college offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree program, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in basic research. In addition, NYMC offers a number of joint degree programs, including a MD/PhD program, a MD/MBA program, and a MD/MPH program.
NYMC's residency and fellowship programs train physicians in a variety of specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. The college also offers a number of continuing medical education (CME) courses for physicians.
NYMC is affiliated with several hospitals in the New York metropolitan area, including the Westchester Medical Center, the Montefiore Medical Center, and the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In addition, NYMC faculty members provide care at a number of community health centers and clinics in the region.
