Admission Requirements

Mitchell Hamline School of Law is a private law school in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The school offers full- and part-time legal education at the J.D., LL.M., and M.S.L. levels.

Admission to Mitchell Hamline is highly competitive. For the fall 2019 entering class, the school received 4,285 applications and accepted 795, or 18.5%. The median LSAT score for accepted students was 158, and the median GPA was 3.54.

The school offers a number of merit-based scholarships, including full-tuition scholarships, to incoming students. Need-based financial aid is also available.

Mitchell Hamline's J.D. program can be completed in two, three, or four years. The school offers a number of dual-degree programs, allowing students to earn a J.D. and another degree in a related field, such as business, health care, or public policy, in four years.

The school's curriculum focuses on practical skills training and includes a required first-year course on professional responsibility. Students also have the opportunity to take courses in a number of specialized areas of law, such as intellectual property, health law, and public interest law.

Mitchell Hamline graduates have a high bar passage rate and go on to work in a variety of legal settings, including private law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations.
