Mississippi University for Women (MUW) is a public university in Columbus, Mississippi. It is the only public women's college in the United States. The school was founded in 1884 as the Industrial Institute and College for the Education of White Girls. It became a state-supported college for women in 1974 and began admitting men in 1982.
MUW offers bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines. The school is known for its nursing program, which is the largest in the state. Other popular majors include education, business, and the humanities.
