Minot State University is a public university in the city of Minot, North Dakota. Founded in 1913, Minot State University is the third largest university in the state of North Dakota. The university offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as a doctorate in education.

Minot State University was founded in 1913 as a normal school, or teacher-training institution. The school was originally located in Minot, North Dakota's Old Central High School. In 1925, the school moved to its current location on the city's west side. The school became a four-year institution in 1931 and began offering graduate programs in the 1970s.
