Minnesota State University Moorhead is a four-year public university located in Moorhead, Minnesota. The school was founded in 1887 as Moorhead Normal School, a two-year teaching college. In 1915, the school became Moorhead State Teachers College and began offering four-year degrees. The name was changed to Moorhead State College in 1957, and finally to Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1975. The school is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
MSUM offers over 60 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate programs. The most popular majors are Education, Nursing, Biology, Psychology, and Business. The school has an enrollment of around 6,000 students, with about 60% of students coming from Minnesota. MSUM is known for its strong education and nursing programs, as well as its competitive athletics. The school fields 14 varsity teams, known as the Dragons, who compete in the NCAA Division II.
