Miles College is a private, coeducational, historically black college located in Fairfield, Alabama, United States. Founded in 1898, it is affiliated with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Miles College is a member of the United Negro College Fund.
The college was founded by the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church in 1898 as Miles Memorial College. It was named for Bishop William H. Miles, the first African American bishop of the CME Church. The campus moved to its current location in Fairfield in 1912. In the 1930s, the college began to offer graduate programs and was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1935. In 1941, the name was changed to Miles College.
The college offers bachelor's degrees in business administration, computer science, criminal justice, education, English, history, mathematics, nursing, and sociology. The graduate programs include master's degrees in business administration, education, and nursing.
