Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) is a graduate school in Monterey, California. It is part of Middlebury College, a liberal arts college in Vermont. MIIS offers master's degrees in international policy, translation and interpretation, international business, and teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). The school also has a Ph.D. program in international education.
MIIS was founded in 1955 as the Monterey Institute of Foreign Studies. It was one of the first schools in the United States to offer a degree in translation and interpretation. The school became part of Middlebury College in 2001.
MIIS has a diverse student body, with students from more than 60 countries. The school offers a unique learning experience, with a focus on language and cultural immersion. Students have the opportunity to study abroad and to intern with organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank.
