Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia Inc (MTSOA) is a private, for-profit institution located in Nashville, Tennessee. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and offers a Master of Science in Anesthesia (MSA) degree. The program is 28 months in length and consists of didactic coursework, clinical rotations, and a research project. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for a career as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA).

MTSOA was founded in 1971 and was originally known as the Nashville School of Anesthesia. It was the first school in the United States to offer a comprehensive program leading to certification as a nurse anesthetist. In 1975, the school was renamed Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia and moved to its current location in Nashville.

The MSA program at MTSOA is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). The program has an average class size of 16 students and a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:4. The 28-month program consists of didactic coursework, clinical rotations, and a research project.

The didactic portion of the program is completed over the course of 18 months and includes coursework in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, chemistry, physics, and pathophysiology. Students also complete coursework in nurse anesthesia theory and practice.

The clinical portion of the program is completed over the course of 10 months and consists of rotations in a variety of medical settings, including hospitals, surgery centers, and pain management clinics. Students gain experience in a variety of anesthesia techniques, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and pain management.

The research project is an integral part of the MSA program and is completed during the final month of the program. Students work with a faculty mentor to develop and complete a research project on a topic related to nurse anesthesia.

Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to take the national certification examination administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Upon passing the examination, students are certified as nurse anesthetists and are eligible to practice in all 50 states.

MTSOA is committed to providing a high-quality education to its students and preparing them for a successful career as a CRNA. The school offers a variety of resources to its students, including a state-of-the-art simulation lab, a comprehensive library, and a variety of clinical sites. MTSOA also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including a student-run CRNA club and an annual CRNA symposium.
