Miami Regional University is a public university located in Miami, Florida. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Miami Regional University is a member of the Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Research Universities.
Miami Regional University was established in 1965 as Miami-Dade Junior College. The college was created in response to the growing need for higher education in Miami-Dade County. The college was originally located in downtown Miami. In 1971, the college moved to its current location in north Miami-Dade County. In 1976, the college was renamed Miami-Dade Community College. In 1980, the college began offering four-year degrees and was renamed Miami-Dade College. In 2009, the college was renamed Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus. In 2013, the college was renamed Miami Regional University.
Miami Regional University is located on a 200-acre campus in north Miami-Dade County. The campus is adjacent to the Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami. The campus is also home to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools headquarters.
