McMurry University is a private Methodist university in Abilene, Texas. The university was founded in 1923 as Abilene Christian College. It is the oldest continuously operating university in Abilene. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines.

The university was founded as Abilene Christian College in 1923. The college was founded by a group of ministers and laymen from the churches of Christ. The college was originally located in downtown Abilene. In 1925, the college moved to its current location on a bluff overlooking the city. The college was renamed McMurry College in 1934 in honor of its founder, James A. McMurry. McMurry College became a university in 1979.

The university is home to the McMurry War Hawks, a NCAA Division III athletic team. The university's mascot is an eagle named Ace. The university's colors are blue and gold.
