Founded in 1819, Maryville College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located just south of Knoxville, Tennessee, in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The college has an enrollment of about 1,000 students from more than 30 states and 20 countries. The student-to-faculty ratio is 11:1, and the average class size is 16. The college offers more than 50 majors, minors and concentrations, and awards the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees.
The Maryville College campus is situated on 136 acres of land, and features several historic buildings, including Anderson Hall (the oldest building on campus, built in 1821), the Fayerweather Mansion (built in 1858), and the Clayton Center for the Arts (opened in 2007). The college also has a number of athletic facilities, including the Scots Athletic Complex, which features a football stadium, baseball and softball fields, and tennis courts.
The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
