LSTC is a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, located in Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the largest seminaries in the country, with over 600 students enrolled in its programs. LSTC offers degrees at the master's and doctoral levels, as well as certificate programs. It is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools.

LSTC was founded in 1892 by Swedish immigrants as the Swedish Theological Seminary. It was originally located in Rock Island, Illinois, but moved to Chicago in 1896. In 1917, the seminary merged with Augustana College and Theological Seminary, another institution founded by Swedish immigrants. The combined institution was renamed Augustana Theological Seminary. In 1963, the seminary moved to its current location on the campus of the University of Chicago. In the 1970s, the seminary began to offer degrees at the doctoral level. In 1995, the seminary was renamed Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.
