Long Island University is a private university with campuses in Brooklyn and Brookville, New York. It is a member of the State University of New York system. The university was founded in 1926 by the New York State Education Department as a two-year college and was originally located in Brooklyn. The university now offers over 200 degree programs and enrolls over 19,000 students. The Brooklyn campus is home to the university's School of Law, while the Brookville campus is home to the university's School of Medicine and School of Allied Health Professions.
