King's College is an independent, co-educational, Catholic, college preparatory school located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The school was founded in 1871 by the Most Reverend James Conwell, Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton. King's is a member of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The school's campus consists of 24 acres (9.7 ha) of land located in the center of Wilkes-Barre. The campus includes four main academic buildings, a chapel, a gymnasium, a library, and a cafeteria. King's College is home to approximately 700 students in grades 9-12. The student to faculty ratio is 12:1 and the average class size is 17 students. The school offers a rigorous academic curriculum that includes courses in English, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, religion, and the arts. In addition to the core academic curriculum, King's College offers a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs, including sports, drama, music, and student government. The school's athletic teams compete in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) and are known as the King's College Monarchs. The school's colors are blue and gold and its mascot is a lion.
