Founded in 1877, Jackson State University is a public, coeducational, historically black university located in Jackson, Mississippi, United States. The university is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Jackson State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The university has been ranked as one of the "Best in the Southeast" by The Princeton Review.
The university offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs in six colleges: Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Public Service & Urban Affairs, and Science & Technology. The university's athletic teams, the Tigers, compete in NCAA Division I as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The university is home to the eCenter @ JSU, a business incubation center that assists entrepreneurs in developing and growing their businesses. Jackson State University also operates WJSU-FM, a National Public Radio station; and the JSU Television Network, which provides educational and cultural programming to the Jackson metropolitan area.
