Houghton College is a small, private, Christian college located in Houghton, New York. The college was founded in 1883 by Rev. Henry Houghton, a Baptist minister. The college's mission is to prepare students "to think critically, to serve faithfully, and to lead courageously." Houghton offers over 50 majors and minors, and has an average class size of 16 students. The college is committed to providing a rigorous academic experience, and 100% of Houghton graduates are employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation. Houghton students have the opportunity to study abroad, participate in service-learning projects, and intern with local businesses and organizations.
