Haskell Indian Nations University is a federally operated tribal university located in Lawrence, Kansas. The university is chartered by the United States Congress and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It is the oldest Indian university in the United States and has been operating since 1884.

The university is named after Colonel Richard Henry Pratt, the founder of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The Carlisle Indian School was the first off-reservation Indian boarding school in the United States. It was founded in 1879 with the goal of assimilating Native American children into mainstream American society.

Haskell Indian Nations University is a unique institution of higher education. It is the only four-year university in the country with a majority Native American student body. The university offers a variety of degree programs, including business, education, liberal arts, and sciences.
