Hamline University is a private liberal arts college in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Founded in 1854 as the first university in Minnesota, Hamline is one of the five oldest colleges in the state. The university is named after Bishop Leonidas Lent Hamline of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Hamline is the oldest university in Minnesota and one of the five oldest in the Midwest.
