Ferrum College is a private, four-year, coeducational, residential college located in Ferrum, Virginia, United States. The college was founded in 1913 as a private, two-year junior college by the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. It became a four-year college in 1925 and began offering graduate programs in 1983. Ferrum College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate and master's degrees. The United Methodist Church's General Commission on Archives and History lists Ferrum College as one of the denomination's 38 Historic Sites. The campus is approximately 1,300 acres (5.3 km2) in a rural setting near the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Ferrum College Historic District, containing 12 buildings, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
