Founded in 1973, Eastern Virginia Medical School is a public medical school in Norfolk, Virginia. It is one of six medical schools in the state and is the only one located in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. The school is part of the Virginia Commonwealth University system and offers the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

Eastern Virginia Medical School was founded in 1973 by a group of citizens who were concerned about the shortage of physicians in the Hampton Roads area. The school was originally located in the old Norfolk General Hospital building on Gresham Drive. In its first year, the school had an enrollment of 100 students.

The school moved to its current location on Fairfax Avenue in 1976. The school's campus covers 50 acres (20 ha) and includes the Strelitz International Academy, the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, and the Evans-Haynes Burn Center.
