Dixie State University is a public university in St. George, Utah. The university is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Dixie State University offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines. The university is divided into six colleges: Business and Communications, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Nursing and Health Professions, Science and Engineering, and Visual and Performing Arts.

Dixie State University was founded in 1911 as a two-year college. The college was originally named Dixie Normal College, and its mission was to train teachers for the local school districts. In 1913, the college was renamed Dixie College, and it began offering four-year degrees. In 1923, the college moved to its current location in St. George, Utah. In 1933, the college was accredited by the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools. In 1962, the college was renamed Dixie State College, and it began offering graduate degrees. In 2013, the college was renamed Dixie State University.
