Concordia University Texas is a private university located in Austin, Texas. The university is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and offers a liberal arts education. Concordia University Texas was founded in 1926 as Concordia Lutheran College by the German Texas Synod of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The school's first class consisted of only 12 students and was held in the basement of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Austin. In 1927, the university moved to its current location on a bluff overlooking the Colorado River. The university has grown significantly since its founding, and now has an enrollment of over 2,000 students. The university offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, and is known for its strong programs in education, business, and nursing.
