Concordia Moorhead was founded in 1891 as Concordia College, a four-year high school. In 1898, Concordia became a four-year college and has since expanded to offer graduate programs. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and has a student body of over 2,000. The campus is situated on the Red River of the North in Moorhead, directly across from Fargo, North Dakota. Concordia College is known for its academic excellence, and for its athletics program, which competes in NCAA Division III as a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Concordia College at Moorhead was founded in 1891 as Concordia College, a four-year high school. The first class of Concordia College consisted of just 12 students, all of whom were of Norwegian descent. In 1898, Concordia became a four-year college, and began to offer a liberal arts education.
