California State University-Fullerton was founded in 1957 as Orange County State College. The school was originally designed to serve the growing population of Orange County, which was experiencing a post-World War II boom. The school's first class consisted of just over 1,000 students.
The school was renamed California State College at Fullerton in 1965 and became part of the California State University system in 1972. The school began offering graduate degrees in 1975 and achieved university status in 1986.
Today, the university enrolls over 40,000 students, making it one of the largest universities in the state of California. The university offers bachelor's degrees in over 100 majors, as well as master's degrees and doctorates in a variety of disciplines.
