California Miramar University (CMU) is a for-profit university located in San Diego, California. It was founded in 1978 as the National University Academy of Arts and Sciences, a private, non-profit institution. In 1980, the name was changed to National University System. The school was accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 1984. In 1986, the school was purchased by the for-profit National University Corporation. The school offers bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as doctorates in business administration and education.
The university's main campus is located in the city of San Diego, on the site of the former Miramar Naval Air Station. The campus is spread over 100 acres (40 hectares) and includes eight academic buildings, a library, a computer lab, and a gymnasium. The university also has a satellite campus in the city of El Cajon, in San Diego County.
The university is organized into four colleges: the College of Business Administration, the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the College of Nursing. The university offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as doctorate programs in business administration and education.
The university's student body is diverse, with students from all over the United States and more than 40 countries represented. The university has a student-to-faculty ratio of 20:1.
The university is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission.
