Bethel University is a private Christian university in McKenzie, Tennessee. It was founded in 1842 as Bethel College and Academy by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The university's name was changed to Bethel University in 2009. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Bethel University enrolls approximately 2,200 students from 36 states and 30 countries. The university offers bachelor's degrees in over 50 majors, as well as master's degrees in business, education, and nursing. The university is home to the Tennessee Temple Pilots, a competitive aviation program. The university's athletics teams compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Mid-South Conference. The university's mascot is the Wildcat.
