Beloit College is a small, private, liberal arts college located in Beloit, Wisconsin. Founded in 1846, Beloit is the oldest continuously operated college in Wisconsin and was one of the first colleges established west of the Mississippi River. The college is a member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Beloit College offers 32 majors and 33 minors, and emphasizes global citizenship and experiential learning. Students can choose from a variety of study abroad programs, internships, and research opportunities to gain real-world experience. The college is home to a number of unique traditions, including the Mindset List, which highlights the cultural changes that incoming students need to be aware of; the Snapping Turtle, Beloit's unofficial mascot; and the Beloit College Prizes, which recognize students for their creative and innovative thinking.
