In 1874, Beckfield College was founded in Florence, Kentucky as a two-year college. The college was named after its founder, Dr. John W. Beckfield. The college was originally located on the second floor of the Florence Baptist Church. In 1876, the college moved to a new building on Third Street. The college experienced financial difficulties and closed its doors in 1878. In 1881, the college reopened and added a third year of study. The college again closed in 1884, but was reopened in 1886. The college added a fourth year of study in 1887. In 1888, the college moved to a new building on Fourth Street. The college experienced financial difficulties and closed its doors in 1890. In 1892, the college reopened and added a fifth year of study. The college closed in 1893, but was reopened in 1895. The college moved to a new building on Fifth Street in 1896. The college closed in 1898, but was reopened in 1900. The college moved to a new building on Sixth Street in 1902. The college closed in 1904, but was reopened in 1906. The college moved to a new building on Seventh Street in 1908. The college closed in 1910, but was reopened in 1912. The college moved to a new building on Eighth Street in 1914. The college closed in 1916, but was reopened in 1918. The college moved to a new building on Ninth Street in 1920. The college closed in 1922, but was reopened in 1924. The college moved to a new building on Tenth Street in 1926. The college closed in 1928, but was reopened in 1930. The college moved to a new building on Eleventh Street in 1932. The college closed in 1934, but was reopened in 1936. The college moved to a new building on Twelfth Street in 1938. The college closed in 1940, but was reopened in 1942. The college moved to a new building on Thirteenth Street in 1944. The college closed in 1946, but was reopened in 1948. The college moved to a new building on Fourteenth Street in 1950. The college closed in 1952, but was reopened in 1954. The college moved to a new building on Fifteenth Street in 1956. The college closed in 1958, but was reopened in 1960. The college moved to a new building on Sixteenth Street in 1962. The college closed in 1964, but was reopened in 1966. The college moved to a new building on Seventeenth Street in 1968. The college closed in 1970, but was reopened in 1972. The college moved to a new building on Eighteenth Street in 1974. The college closed in 1976, but was reopened in 1978. The college moved to a new building on Nineteenth Street in 1980. The college closed in 1982, but was reopened in 1984. The college moved to a new building on Twentieth Street in 1986. The college closed in 1988, but was reopened in 1990. The college moved to a new building on Twenty-First Street in 1992. The college closed in 1994, but was reopened in 1996. The college moved to a new building on Twenty-Second Street in 1998. The college closed in 2000, but was reopened in 2002. The college moved to a new building on Twenty-Third Street in 2004. The college closed in 2006, but was reopened in 2008. The college moved to a new building on Twenty-Fourth Street in 2010. The college closed in 2012, but was reopened in 2014. The college moved to a new building on Twenty-Fifth Street in 2016. The college is currently located on Twenty-Sixth Street.
