The Novominsk Yeshiva was founded in 1803 by Rabbi Dov Ber of Lubavitch, in the city of Novominsk, Belarus. It became one of the largest and most prominent yeshivas in Eastern Europe, attracting students from all over the world. The Novominsk Yeshiva produced many great rabbis and scholars, who went on to lead prominent Jewish communities and institutions. The Novominsk Yeshiva was closed by the Soviet government in 1938, and its students and faculty were dispersed.
