Weber State University (WSU) is a public university in Ogden, Utah. It is the state's largest university and one of the largest employers in Weber County. WSU is a member of the Utah System of Higher Education. The university was founded in 1889 as Weber Stake Academy, a private school for the children of Mormon settlers in the area. The school became a state college in 1933 and a university in 1991. WSU offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university's main campus is located on a hill east of Ogden. The campus is home to several academic buildings, a library, a student center, a performing arts center, and a stadium. WSU also has a satellite campus in Davis County and a number of other locations throughout Utah. The university is governed by a board of trustees and is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
