Wagner College is a private, coeducational college in the historic Grymes Hill neighborhood on Staten Island in New York City. Founded in 1883, it is the only college in the United States affiliated with the Lutheran Church. It offers bachelor's degrees in arts, sciences, business, health sciences, and education, as well as master's degrees in business, education, and public administration. The college is named after German composer Richard Wagner.

Wagner College was founded in 1883 by the German Evangelical Lutheran St. Matthew's Church in the New York City borough of Staten Island. The college's first president was the Rev. Dr. William Passavant. The college initially enrolled just over 50 students, all of whom were male. In its early years, the college offered a classical education in the liberal arts, sciences, and business, as well as vocational training in such areas as carpentry and printing.

In the early 20th century, the college began to expand its curriculum, adding programs in nursing, social work, and other health-related fields. In the 1930s, the college added a number of new buildings to its Grymes Hill campus, including a library, gymnasium, and dormitories. In the 1940s, the college began admitting women, and in the 1950s it added graduate programs in education and business.

The college today enrolls about 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students from across the United States and around the world. its campus overlooking New York Harbor. The college offers a wide range of academic programs, as well as a number of extracurricular activities and clubs. Wagner College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Wagner College's athletics teams, the Seahawks, compete in NCAA Division I. The college is a member of the Northeast Conference. The Seahawks have won conference championships in a number of sports, including baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis.
