The University of Texas at Dallas is a public research university in the University of Texas System. The main campus is in the Richardson, Texas, USA, suburb of Dallas. It was founded in 1969 as the University of Dallas, a private university, by the Dallas Foundation. The university was later renamed to the University of Texas at Dallas in 1971 when it joined the UT System. The university has grown rapidly in recent years, with a total enrollment of over 27,000 students as of Fall 2019, including over 19,000 undergraduate and over 8,000 graduate students. The university offers a wide variety of academic programs, including arts and humanities, business, computer science, engineering, natural sciences, and social sciences. The university is also home to the Naveen Jindal School of Management, the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, the School of Arts and Humanities, and the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
