The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) is a public academic health science center in Galveston, Texas. It is part of the University of Texas System.

UTMB includes schools of medicine, nursing, allied health sciences, and biomedical sciences. The university also includes the UTMB Health System, which consists of eight hospitals and more than fifty clinics.

UTMB is one of the oldest medical schools in Texas. It was founded in 1891 as the University of Texas Medical Department. The university has grown significantly since its founding, and now has an enrollment of over 3,000 students.

UTMB is a major research center, and its faculty members are involved in a wide range of research projects. The university is also home to the Shriners Hospitals for Children – Galveston, which provides specialized care for children with burns and other injuries.

UTMB is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
