The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) is a private, non-profit institution of higher learning located in Louisville, Kentucky. The seminary is the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and is the largest seminary in the world. SBTS was founded in 1859 and today offers over 60 different academic programs leading to degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. The seminary is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.

The mission of SBTS is to be a community of scholars and students who are committed to the Bible as the inerrant Word of God, who proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, and who equip leaders for ministry in the church and the world. The seminary seeks to accomplish this mission through its four schools: the School of Church Music, the School of Christian Studies, the Boyce College of Evangelical Theology, and the Graduate School of Theology.

The seminary offers a wide variety of degree programs, ranging from the Certificate in Christian Studies to the Doctor of Philosophy in Systematic Theology. SBTS also offers a number of online and distance learning options, including the Master of Divinity Online and the Master of Arts in Christian Studies Online.

The seminary is home to a number of notable faculty, including Al Mohler, R. Albert Mohler, Jr., Paige Patterson, and David Platt. In addition, the seminary houses a number of research centers and institutes, such as the L. Russ Bush Center for Faith and Culture, the Center for Biblical Studies, and the Carl F.H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement.
