Founded in 1948, Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Erie-Behrend College is a public research university with a land-grant mission and a comprehensive array of undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. The college enrolls more than 4,000 students on its suburban campus in Erie, Pennsylvania, and offers more than 60 degree programs through its four schools: School of Business, School of Engineering, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Science. The college is home to the black box theater, the Erie Art Museum, and the Penn State Behrend Botanical Gardens, and is a short drive from the city of Pittsburgh. The college's athletic teams compete in Division III of the NCAA.
