Founded in 1849, Pacific University is a private, non-profit university located in Forest Grove, Oregon. The university is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. The university offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines, including the liberal arts, business, education, health professions, and optometry.

Pacific University was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1849 as the Tualatin Academy. The academy was later renamed Pacific Academy, and then Pacific University. The university was initially located in Forest Grove, Oregon, about 25 miles west of Portland. In 1891, the university moved to its current location in the city of Forest Grove.

The university is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Pacific University is organized into four schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Education, and the College of Optometry.

The university's athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division III Northwest Conference. The Pacific Boxers have won 19 conference championships and have made seven appearances in the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Pacific University enrolls approximately 3,000 students from 37 states and 30 countries. The university's student-to-faculty ratio is 13:1. The average class size is 20 students.

Pacific University's campus covers 50 acres and includes over 30 buildings. The university's library, which was founded in 1872, contains over 300,000 volumes.

The university is also a member of the Council of Independent Colleges, a group of over 600 private colleges and universities in the United States.
