Notre Dame of Maryland University is a private Catholic university in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1873 as a women's college, it is now co-educational. It is the oldest Catholic university in the United States and the only Catholic university in Maryland. The university has an enrollment of about 2,000 students, most of whom are women.

Notre Dame of Maryland University was founded in 1873 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame as the first Catholic women's college in the United States. The school was originally located on North Calvert Street in Baltimore, but moved to its current location on North Charles Street in 1876. In 1895, the school became a four-year college and began awarding bachelor's degrees. In 1896, the name was changed to Notre Dame College of Maryland. In 1911, the school began offering graduate degrees and the name was again changed, this time to Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Notre Dame of Maryland University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The university offers bachelor's degrees in over 30 majors, as well as master's degrees in business, education, nursing, and counseling. The university also offers a doctorate in educational leadership.
