North Carolina State University at Raleigh (NC State) is a public research university in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is part of the University of North Carolina system and is a land-, sea-, and space-grant university. The university forms one of the corners of the Research Triangle together with Duke University in Durham and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

NC State has an enrollment of more than 34,000 students, making it the largest university in the Carolinas. The university is known for its leading programs in engineering, business, design, agriculture, life sciences, and veterinary medicine. NC State is also home to the National Humanities Center, the largest humanities center in the country.

The university was founded in 1887 as a land-grant college. The school became a part of the University of North Carolina system in 1931 and was renamed NC State College in 1945. The school was finally granted university status in 1963.

Since its founding, NC State has awarded over 100,000 degrees. The university has produced two Nobel laureates, six astronauts, and numerous Fulbright Scholars. The university is also a leading research institution, conducting over $1 billion in research annually.

NC State is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The university offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in over 300 fields of study.
