Nevada Universities and Colleges


Nevada is home to a wide range of colleges and universities offering a variety of educational opportunities. In the northern part of the state, the University of Nevada, Reno is the state’s flagship university, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is the state’s largest university, located in the southern part of the state. It offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs in a variety of disciplines.

In addition to UNLV and UNR, Nevada is also home to two other public universities. Nevada State College is located in Henderson, near Las Vegas, and offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Great Basin College is located in Elko, in the northern part of the state, and is focused on providing educational opportunities to rural Nevada.

Nevada is also home to a number of private institutions of higher learning. Touro University Nevada is a private university located in Henderson, near Las Vegas, offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs. Other private universities in Nevada include Sierra Nevada College, Sierra Nevada University, and DeVry University.

Nevada is also home to a number of community colleges, including Truckee Meadows Community College, Western Nevada College, and College of Southern Nevada. These colleges offer a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

In addition to traditional colleges and universities, Nevada is home to a number of specialized educational institutions. The National Judicial College is located in Reno, providing professional education and training for judges. The Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office offers a Fire Science Academy in Carson City, providing professional training and education for firefighters.
