The campus of Mount St. Mary's University is located on a picturesque, 185-acre (0.75 km2) mountaintop campus in Emmitsburg. The university is governed by a Board of Trustees, which includes 18 laypeople, 2 priests, 2 religious brothers, and the university president. The Mount is a member of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) and the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).

The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including business, education, engineering, nursing, and the liberal arts. The Mount also offers a unique 5-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Master of Science in Nursing program, which allows students to complete both degrees in just five years.
