Montreat College is a small, private, Christian college located in the mountains of Western North Carolina. The college was founded in 1916 by the Rev. Dr. W.C. Brown, a Presbyterian minister, and his wife, Mrs. Annie Bell Brown. The Browns were inspired by the mountain scenery and the people of the area, and they wanted to create a college that would provide a quality education for young people in a Christian environment.

The college began with just a few students, but it quickly grew. In its early years, the college offered only two-year programs, but it began offering four-year programs in the 1930s. Today, the college offers a variety of programs, including business, education, nursing, and the arts and sciences.

Montreat College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The college has an enrollment of about 1,000 students, and it employs a faculty of about 100. The college is located on a beautiful campus of about 200 acres, and it offers a variety of student activities, including athletics, clubs, and organizations.
