Missouri State University-Springfield (MSU-S) is a public university in Springfield, Missouri. The university is one of four campuses of the Missouri State University System. MSU-S offers more than 100 undergraduate programs and more than 50 graduate programs. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

MSU-S was founded in 1905 as the Fourth District Normal School. The school was created to train teachers for the rural schools of southwest Missouri. The school became a state teachers college in 1919 and a state college in 1945. The name was changed to Southwest Missouri State College in 1963 and to Southwest Missouri State University in 1972. The name was again changed to Missouri State University-Springfield in 2005.

MSU-S enrolls more than 17,000 students from all 50 states and more than 90 countries. The university is home to the Robert W. Plaster College of Business Administration, the College of Education, the College of Health and Human Services, the College of Humanities and Public Affairs, the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, and the Graduate College.

MSU-S offers more than 100 undergraduate programs and more than 50 graduate programs. The most popular undergraduate majors are business, education, psychology, and nursing. The university is also home to a number of research centers and institutes, including the Center for Applied Research and Development, the Center for Business and Economic Research, the Center for Environmental Studies, the Center for International Education, and the Institute for Public Policy.

MSU-S is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The university is also accredited by a number of professional organizations, including the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the National Association of Schools of Music, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
