Midwestern State University is a public university in Wichita Falls, Texas. It is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. The university offers more than 60 undergraduate degrees and 19 graduate degrees through four colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the Gordon T. and Ellen West College of Education, the Robert D. and Carol Gunn College of Health Sciences and Human Services, and the Honors College. The university is home to the Sheppard Air Force Base World Class Extension program which offers classes to military personnel and their families stationed at the base.

Founded in 1922 as Wichita Falls Junior College, Midwestern State University is the only state-supported liberal arts college in Texas. The school became a four-year institution in 1935 and was renamed Midwestern State College. In 1963, the college was authorized by the Texas Legislature to become a university, and the name was changed to Midwestern State University. The university has grown steadily since then, adding new programs and facilities to meet the needs of its students.
