Marymount University is a private Catholic university in Arlington, Virginia. The university was founded in 1950 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary as a women's college. It became coeducational in 1972. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The university offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines. The main campus is located on a hill overlooking the Potomac River. The university also has a satellite campus in Ballston, Virginia.
