Founded in 1826, Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is the oldest continuously operating college of art and design in the United States. In the 19th century, MICA was a pioneer in professional art education, offering the nation's first classes in art criticism, art history, and art education. Today, MICA is a leader in the field of visual arts, offering undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate programs in a wide range of disciplines.

MICA's undergraduate program offers a comprehensive education in the visual arts, with an emphasis on contemporary practices and theory. Students can choose from a variety of majors, including painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and graphic design. MICA also offers a unique interdisciplinary major in which students can design their own course of study.

MICA's graduate program offers a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in a variety of disciplines, as well as a Master of Arts (MA) in Art Education. The MFA program is a terminal degree for artists, and the MA program is designed for those interested in pursuing a career in art education.

MICA's post-baccalaureate program is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor's degree in a non-art field and wish to pursue a career in the visual arts. The program offers a comprehensive education in the visual arts, with an emphasis on contemporary practices and theory.

MICA is located in Baltimore, Maryland, a city with a rich history of art and culture. The college is situated in the Mount Vernon neighborhood, just north of downtown. MICA's campus is adjacent to the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the college is within walking distance of many other cultural attractions.
