Founded in 1863, La Salle University is a private, co-educational university located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The university is named for St. Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, which also founded the university. La Salle is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church through the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The university offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs to more than 10,000 students.

The university was founded in 1863 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools as St. La Salle College. The college was named for St. Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, the founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. The college was originally located on 12th and Girard Avenue in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia. In 1884, the college moved to its current location on North Broad Street in the city's Logan Square neighborhood. The college was granted university status in 1953 and was renamed La Salle University.

The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The university's programs in business, education, engineering, and nursing are accredited by their respective professional organizations.

The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Undergraduate programs are offered in the arts and sciences, business, education, engineering, and nursing. Graduate programs are offered in business, education, engineering, nursing, and theology.
