Founded in 1974, Johnson & Wales University is a private, nonprofit, accredited institution with four campuses located in Providence, Rhode Island; North Miami, Florida; Denver, Colorado; and Charlotte, North Carolina. The university offers degree programs in business, culinary arts, hospitality, technology, and education.

Johnson & Wales University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (NEASC) and is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Rhode Island (AICU). The Charlotte campus of Johnson & Wales University is located in the heart of the Queen City. The campus is situated on 15 acres in Uptown Charlotte, within walking distance of many restaurants, hotels, and businesses. The Charlotte campus offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in business, culinary arts, hospitality, and education.

The Charlotte campus is home to the Johnson & Wales University College of Culinary Arts, which offers degree programs in Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry Arts, and Food & Beverage Management. The college also offers a Certificate in Culinary Arts, a Certificate in Baking & Pastry Arts, and a Certificate in Food & Beverage Management.

The Charlotte campus is also home to the Johnson & Wales University College of Business, which offers degree programs in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Human Resources Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management, Marketing, and Project Management.
